THE NORDIC UNION OF PLAYWRIGHTS The Nordic Union of Playwrights, NDU, consists of all the associations of playwrights and translators of drama in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The Association was founded in 1941 on the initiative of the Swedish novelist and playwright Wilhelm Moberg. The original purpose of NDU was partly to be an antifascist front and partly to work as a joint Nordic agent of drama. Today our object is to support copyright and general economic interests of playwrights from the Nordic countries globally. If accepted by the board, new oranizations can join NDU. NDU is lead by a board, made up of one person from each country, elected by their respective national playwrights' association. The chairmanship alternates between the member nations in the following order: Sweden, Iceland, Finland, Denmark, Norway. In 2001-2003, Denmark holds the presidency, and consequently the association resides there. At present the following associations are members of NDU: (Click on the names to get more information!)
